Kongo Needs Help

IMG_6448_Snapseed

Kongo’s Monkey House is getting crowded and there are monkeys everywhere!  This big guy came home from a dinner Thursday evening at the home of Betty and Kim (Betty is Kongo’s travel agent) who found him wandering the aisles at Costco looking for light beer.  The addition brings the total number of primates in Kongo’s troop to ten!

Now the problem here, and this is where Kongo needs some help, is that this big monkey can’t remember his name.  (Perhaps there were too many beers in his rear view mirror) So Kongo is seeking advice from his gentle readers on picking out an appropriate name for this guy.

This picture shows the relative size of the new monkey to Kongo so its not likely that he will be doing too much traveling with Kongo but he will definitely have plenty to do keeping an eye on the other 9 monkeys when Kongo is on the road!

Please help Kongo pick a name for this new arrival.  Just put your thoughts in the comment line and Kongo will reward the winner with appropriate recognition and slavish appreciation.

Thanks, and travel safe.  Have fun.

  1. Well, jeez Kongo, don’t you recognize King Kong? You better take him on your travels Kongo or he’ll tear down your hotel building whenever you’re in New York!

Tried to reply in COMMENT on Kongo’s website, but it wanted me to log in and I couldn’t…   So I’m thinking he looks like a JUMBOLAYA to me…..or just JUMBO for short. Call him that and see if he answers.

  3. Sir Simian, or just Simian….for no other reason than he is large enough to embody all things ape-ish and that it’s also a name that has a faint whiff of Victorian grandeur and the great age of travel and exploration about it (even if it’s only from the safety and sanctity of his ostentatious parlor, replete with luxuriously upholstered wing back chair and casually draped zebra hide, potted aspidistras, and shelf upon shelf of travelogues). I can see him now, replete with exotic imports and smoking a pipe (Simian MUST have a pipe) whilst he awaits a report by telegram from his ‘monkey in Havana’, Kongo……..I’m getting a bit carried away now aren’t I? 🙂

  4. He looks like a Cranbrook to me. When we spent Christmas with friends in Cranbrook, British Columbia some 20 years ago our 12 year old son received a similar primate as a gift and named it Cranbrook. Cranbrook became a well loved member of the family following Matt through his teen and university years then off to Japan to teach English for awhile. Now lives in Vancouver with Matt, his wife and their 2 sons!

  5. I too started thinking along the lines of Simian. Somehow that led to the first (non-primate) name to pop up in my mind to be Silas. He just has those soft eyes and laid-back look to him 🙂
