Shoot the Eyes

If you want compelling wildlife images you have to shoot for the eyes. In almost every wildlife photo Kongo can imagine, the eyes of the animal become the central focus. So, braving a blazing hot Sunday afternoon today, the monkey visited the San Diego Zoo Safari Park in Escondido and shot the eyes out of this series of wildlife. Above, an Ibis gives the monkey the eye.

This Hooded Vulture is creepy in a clinging way. This is somebody who for sure you do not want to see eyeing you up close.

While not directly eye-to-eye, Kongo really liked this image of a white pelican. He reminded him of a cartoon character.

After waiting for 15 minutes, Kongo was rewarded with an eye shot when this cheetah finally turned to check out the monkey

September and October are some of the hottest months in San Diego, particularly when you go inland. Take plenty of water and don’t push it too hard, but a visit to San Diego’s Zoo Safari Park is well worth the effort any time of year.
