While waiting for his allotted time to visit the Butterfly Jungle at San Diego’s Safari Park Saturday, Kongo spent a bit of time with a very outgoing Black Crowned Night Heron who was very comfortable in the daylight.

From Mudbank to Paradise

Untitled_Panorama1 San Diego’s Shelter Island has an interesting history.  Early nautical charts from the last century designated this area as a mud bank. During World War II there was a lot of dredging in San Diego Bay to accommodate all the navy traffic and this is where they dumped all the spoil. Butterfly Jungle

Kongo got up close and personal with more than 10,000 butterflies at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park when he visited the Butterfly Jungle yesterday.  They flit, flutter, float, flop, and fly about landing on everything including Kongo’s camera, his backpack, and even on his head!  Above a Postman butterfly rests before looking for more nectar. Reflections on 500 Blog Posts

A few days ago Kongo posted his 500th blog. It reminds me of that theoretical statistical scenario about how an infinite number of monkeys with an infinite number of typewriters will eventually reproduce the complete works of Shakespeare. As I look back over this effort that began in November 2011 there are several things I’ve learned and since this is MY blog, I think I’ll share them and would like to hear from others about what they’ve learned on their blogging journey.
