Ailsa’s Travel Theme: Wood

Ailsa’s theme this week is wood.  Above is the wooden bowsprit and figurehead on the HMS Surprise at the Maritime Museum in San Diego, which was the set for one of Kongo’s favorite movies, Master and Commander.  The figurehead represents the goddess Athena who stood for, among other things, just war.  Knock on wood.  See more wooden themes at Ailsa’s Where’s My Backpack. Waterfront Walk and Free Parking Spaces

Kongo checks out HMS Surprise on the San Diego waterfront. The exact replica of the 18th-century British frigate Rose, the frigate was constructed to be the set for the movie Master and Commander. It is now part of the San Diego Maritime Museum.
