Casa Milà

Earlier this week Kongo visited Casa Milà, popularly known as La Pedrera (the quarry) in Barcelona.  This home was designed by the Catalan architect Antoni Gaudi and built in 1910.  Kongo–under the guiding instruction of Mrs. Kongo–has become a bit of an architecture groupie and visiting the modernistic creation on the Passeig de Gràcia was a highlight of their stay in Spain.

Lines and Curves

_MG_2007Kongo spent the morning in Balboa Park, one of his favorite spots, studying lines and curves. He’s come to appreciate how verticals add tension and horizontals soothe. Check out these images and see what you think.  The image above has strong vertical lines from the palm trees contrasted against the horizontal angles of the building.

Good Morning Santa Fe

Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine caught the monkey’s eye yesterday morning while he was out and about on photo assignment.  Our class at the NatGeo Photo Expedition Workshop started out at the Santa Fe Railroad Yard with a theme to explore Santa Fe waking up.  Santa Fe is one of those places that wakes up slowly.  It seemed to be a stretch and yawn and snooze for another five minutes kind of place.
