After two days in Budapest, Kongo checks aboard the AMA DOLCE for the seven day cruise up the Danube River to Nuremberg, Germany with many stops along the way. This little monkey quickly made friends with the ship staff and other passengers. He is now the “world famous” Kongo. The following pictures give an overview of the great accommodations aboard the Dolce. In another hour or so he will arrive in Bratislava, Slovakia. Continue reading “Monkey Aboard”

Out and About in Budapest

20120908-222549.jpg
Today was a out and about day in Budapest for Kongo. He visited Hero’s Square where Hungary honors its national heroes and the site of a massacre of Hungarian students by the Soviets in 1956, the Castle District in Buda, Saint Stephens Basilica, a walk along the Danube embankment, and a lot more. Another beautiful day. The skies in Budapest have a wonderful shade of blue and we learned that Hungary actually invented just about everything and that their trials in the 20th century were the result of “unfortunately being on the losing side.” No matter, it’s still a beautiful city. Szia Budapest

20120907-202023.jpg

Kongo makes it to Budapest via SAN-ATL-AMS-BUD. Long flights but landed at the destination in glorious weather. Kongo is staying at The Sofitel Chain Bridge in the heart of Budapest. After taking a quick nap he and Mrs. Kongo head out for a stroll up and down the embankment lining the Buda and Pest sides of the Danube. Budapest used to be two cities, Buda and Pest, which were officially jointed in the late 1800s. These pictures were taken from both the Buda and Pest sides of the river. In one of the photos the Danube actually looks blue but here’s a newsflash…the Danube is NOT blue.

Travel safe. Have fun.

One and a wake up…

Just one more day and a wake up early in the morning and Kongo is off on his great European adventure.  Here he tries on his “red tie” attire in preparation for the Vienna Opera where he plans to see the Strauss comedy opera Arabella when he sails up the Danube through Austria.  Thanks to good neighbor JoAnne who made sure Kongo had the appropriate Monkey Suit to hobnob in the State Opera House. Travel safe.  Have fun. Continue reading One and a wake up…
