Doggone Cool

Kongo was in Balboa Park a Sunday or two ago and ran into this over the top, way too cool poodle dude dog out for a stroll.  This canine had a certain swagger and attitude that let you know that it knew he was THE TOP DOG.  It was also a big fan with the other walkers and park visitors.  The leash holder couldn’t get more than about 10 feet without being swamped with oohs, ahhhs, petting attacks, and hugs from toddlers.  That, of course, was the point. Travel safe.  Have fun. Continue reading Doggone Cool

Weekly Photo Challenge: Unexpected

Now the monkey is not normally a dog photographer.  Sure, they’re cute and Kongo really likes dogs it’s just they don’t often pose well or they lick the camera lens or their eyes come out weird in a flash.  But this week’s photo challenge was UNEXPECTED and these dogs riding on a Harley and driving a car certainly fit the unexpected category.  These were taken at the Plaza in Santa Fe in July where actually a lot of unexpected things happen.  See more unexpected photos at the WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge. Kongo doesn’t have dogs.  He wanted to get a dog.  Some smallish thing with short hair that doesn’t shed and doesn’t bark.  Mrs. Kongo said, “sure, you can have a dog.  When you travel, it travels.”  She evidently does not recall the fond memories of taking care of dogs and raising two boys in younger times when Kongo was sailing the seven seas keeping the world safe for democracy.  So much for gratitude.  Anyway Kongo was allowed to build a koi pond during a house remodel and he has 10 beautiful (and big) koi swimming in the front courtyard but it’s pretty hard to take a koi for a walk.  They don’t snuggle up well and don’t perform tricks although they will eat out of your hand if you’re patient.
