Kongo doesn’t really consider himself a street photographer, whatever that is.  But he does like to take pictures on the street.  And Quito, Ecuador is a terrific place to take candid street photos.  These images were taken in early May when Kongo visited Quito as part of his trip to the Galapagos Islands.

Peru’s Sacred Valley

The “Sacred Valley” in Peru stretches from the lower foothills outside Cusco to the old Inca fortress town at Ollantaytambo and is defined by the Urubamba River, one of the headwaters of the Amazon.  Kongo visited this beautiful valley in late April and lived to tell the tale. Machu Picchu

Kongo made this panorama image from three shots taken yesterday morning from a perch   high above the ancient city near a stone building known as the Caretaker Hut.  While there he met some Canadians who were relaxing at the site after spending several weeks in remote areas of Peru installing solar panels in villages that have never had electricity before. San Diego River Walk

_MG_5814Early this morning the monkey hiked along the San Diego River near his home. Surprisingly, the river was running strong. In fact, it was overrunning its banks and the usual hiking trails were under water.  Kongo picked his way along the river from the Old Mission Dam to the bridge.
