The monkey spent four days in New York last week and over the weekend attending a National Geographic Photo Workshop with Joe McNally.  The workshop was great, Joe was fantastic as always, and the support group hosting the event was superb.  Here’s a few of Kongo’s shots that included players, posers, crazies, and a view.  The sax player above is from Russia.  He had staked out a great spot within a tunnel in Central Park with great acoustics and great afternoon light. Actually it wasn’t a monkey parade at all but Kongo was there for the Annual Pulaski Day Parade in New York City when he got trapped on the west side of 5th Avenue Sunday afternoon.  Kongo loves parades and this gala event on the streets of New York was no exception.  Thousands of participants, fire engines, motorcycles, bands, dancers, local pols,  and Little Miss Polinas swarmed Midtown to remember and celebrate Casimir Pulaski, a Polish nobleman who is known as “the father of the U.S. calvary.” Continue reading “Monkey Parade”

Ailsa’s Travel Theme: Height

This week’s travel theme is height.  Fortunately, Kongo was atop New York’s Top of the Rock yesterday evening and he took this three-frame panorama of Manhattan looking south shortly before sunset.  The Empire State Building is left-center with Freedom Plaza and downtown in the background.  The Hudson River is on the right.  See more height images at Ailsa’s Where’s My Backpack. Travel safe.  Have fun. Continue reading Ailsa’s Travel Theme: Height
