_MG_4400Along the lower West Side of Manhattan near the new World Trade Center is the neighborhood of Battery Park City.  This is the newest part of ever-changing NYC and is about 90 acres of reclaimed land from the remains of the building destroyed on September 11 as well as land dredged from near Staten Island. Signs of Spring in Central Park

_MG_4249Last October Kongo caught what was probably the last great fall day in Central Park. Today he caught the really great first day of Spring.  It was glorious to see the trees starting to bud and bloom and daffodils crop up through the brown leaves of winter.  People were out and about and enjoying the sunshine and clear skies. Trinity Church, NYC

_MG_4165While visiting New York City this weekend, Kongo took a stroll around Trinity Church in Lower Manhattan.  One of the interesting things about this church is that has a lot of old gravestones.  Like really old gravestones. When this ghoulish skull and cross-bones was spotted, Kong imaged it was a pirate grave.  Captain Kidd, after all, was a pew holder at the church. Central Park Sunday

Yesterday Kongo took advantage of an absolutely glorious October Sunday to spend a few hours in New York’s Central Park.  The weather was warm but every once in a while a cool, chilling breeze chased along the paths, reminding everyone of colder days ahead.  Maple trees were particularly spectacular.  Sycamores had already lost most of their leaves.  A huge Breast Cancer Walk added plenty of activities and noise with a band, banging drums, and splashes of pink everywhere.
